HM COASTGUARD
HM Coastguard is the Government authority responsible for the Initiation and Coordination of Civil Maritime Search and Rescue.
It is also responsible for search and Rescue along the shoreline and Cliff- tops.
Borth Coastguard is a team of 12 volunteers who carry out Coastal search and rescue in the area from Machynlleth to Wallog.
They are managed by a full time Sector Manager George Crumpler and supervised by Station Officer Allan Lloyd and his Deputy Ron Davies.
Their main activities are cliff and beach rescues where they often work closely with other search and rescue organisations, such as the RNLI or the RAF.
The majority of the incidents are people getting into difficulties at Ynyslas Beach and on the cliffs between Borth Head and Wallog.
They also carry out Mud rescues in the local estuaries.
To get coastal safety advice about the local area call the Coastguard on 01646 690909
